2012 Olympic Summer Games ticket information

LONDON (Reuters) – Tickets sales for the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics are expected to generate around 400 million pounds ($666 million), London organising committee chief executive Paul Deighton said on Tuesday.

Deighton told a sports event management conference that organisers had wanted also to raise between 600 and 700 million pounds in private sponsorship revenue.

“Currently we are just above 550 million pounds,” he said.

“If you look at the revenue we have yet to capture, the principal component will be from ticketing.

“Something like 400 million will come through ticketing. We are building business plans for each of the sports to make sure that we can get tickets in the hands of the people who most want to be there.”

Around nine million tickets for the Olympics and Paralympics will go on sale in 2011.

“We will be very focused over the next 12 months on getting our ticketing strategy right, priced well enough to meet our revenue targets with lots of opportunity to make them affordable and accessible for people who don’t have the deepest of pockets,” Deighton said.

He added that organisers had been trying to raise money during a financial crisis which they could not have foreseen when London was awarded the Games in 2005.

Joe Perry says Tyler is out

Aerosmith’s Joe Perry took to his Twitter page yesterday to relay some potentially positive news to fans: despite Steven Tyler’s apparent departure, “Aerosmith is definitely NOT breakingup.” Perry also confirmed that the remaining four members of Aerosmith would seek out a new singer while Tyler did “his own thing.”

“Aerosmith is positively looking for a new singer to work with. You just can’t take 40 years of experience and throw it in the bin!” Perry tweeted yesterday, November 9th. “Band is playing hotter than ever and our songs need to be played live! Don’t despair; Aerosmith not splitting up. Promise that’s the last you’ll hear from me on the subject till we gear up again.”

The intention to move the Berkeley Repertory Theatre’s smash hit to New York was revealed November 9th, when a casting notice seeking performers for the Broadway staging of the show was made public. The notice gave no details as to when production on the Broadway American Idiot will begin, or what actors will carry over from the Berkeley Repertory run. The musical premiered in September and was eventually extended five additional weeks past its original run, making it the top-grossing show in the Berkeley Repertory Theatre’s history, Playbillwrites.

Top 10 Music apps for Facebook users

Considering a Facebook application renaissance could be on its way, it’s a good time to take a look at some of the apps that managed to make and keep themselves relevant during the Dark Ages. If you’re a music lover, check out this list of 10 great options to consider for adding some more music-related interactivity to your Facebook profile.
Whether it’s expressing your love for music on your Facebook profile or even casual “I like this song” folks wanting to share the occasional tune with friends, you’ll probably find something of interest on this list. And of course, if you know of any other worthwhile music apps we missed, let us know in the comments.
10. MixPod
This app integrates with the MixPod site to let you create playlists and embed them on your Facebook profile. They have a fairly large selection and you can browse by year which is a nice feature — but be sure to test out the tracks you’ve added before posting the playlist. We had trouble with a few of the songs not playing, or being unmarked covers of the originals.
You also have a number of styles to choose from for your playlist, from utilitarian to playful. You’ll have to create a MixPod account to set up, save and embed your playlists.
9. Music Video Jukebox
This is a fun little app that makes it easy to post music videos to your profile from YouTube or last.fm. You can search for YouTube videos right inline from the app, or let it scan your Facebook profile’s musical favorites section to help surface videos you might like. Or, hook it in to your last.fmaccount to pull in the videos from the most recent tracks you’ve listened to, and post them to your profile with one click.
8. Music Challenge
For the more trivia minded among you, Music Challenge is one of the more popular music trivia apps at almost 3.4 million monthly active users. It follows a typical “name that tune” format, where you have to identify the song based on the audio being played. In bonus mode, you also get points for identifying the artists.
7. Music
Dubbed simply Music, this is another twist on sharing songs through your profile. You can upload your own tracks to share in your embedded playlist — although hosting limitations constrain you to only two at a time. However, you can also add and share any music from URLs on the web, including YouTube. Grab the URL of the track or YouTube music video you want to include and paste it into the “Add Song” interface to build up your playlist.
6. Last.fm Profile
Whereas last.fm used to have its own official Facebook app, they’re interestingly deprecating it in favor of third-party community apps. The last.fm Profile app is one of the better among them, and allows you to add a handy tab to your Facebook profile with stats from your last.fm profile. Simply add the app, submit your last.fm username, and once the data is cleared you can add the last.fm profile as a new tab in your Facebook profile.
5. My Band
If you’re a music lover who is also a musician, you might want to check out My Band. It’s a promotional tool to enhance your Facebook Page with band-specific needs like gig schedules (including ticket sales), music sales, mailing lists and street teams, and analytics on who is listening and sharing your tunes.
4. imeem
This official app from the folks at imeem lets you integrate your imeem profile with Facebook, but can also be useful even if you don’t spend much time on imeem itself. After adding the app you can add songs, videos, and playlists to your profile from the featured, most played this month, and top ranked leaderboards, or add any track imeem hosts by pasting its URL into the Facebook app. You can also see your Facebook friends’ imeem activity and manage your profile from within the app.
3. Pandora
If you already use Pandora, its official app will help you integrate your listening with Facebook. You can set up either a sidebar box with details from your Pandora listening or add it as a new tab to your Facebook profile. Show off your latest stations, favorite artists and songs to your Facebook friends, or create new custom stations right from within the app. You can also see what your Facebook friends are listening to from the Pandora app dashboard.

1. iLike

Many problems with Paperless ticketing at Bruce Springsteen concert 11/8/09

The lines were huge waiting to get into the show, maybe that can be expected being its a union hall and they work at the pace they want to.

The tickets are also printed on paper, not sure why it is called paperless, I guess they dont want to call it by its real name credit card ticketing. As the only thing you are asked for is your credit card.

anyone else have problems with the paperless ticketing for the Bruce Springsteen tour

Fans walk out at Britney’s Australian Concert… boring?

Fans walk out at Britney’s Australian concert causes upset

Britney “upset” over reports of fans walking out of her performance in Perth
Britney Spears’s Circus tour caused controversy in Australia before it even opened when the newspapers revealed that the 27-year-old would not be singing live on stage. Now reports have emerged claiming angry fans walked out of a Britney concert in Perth branding her performance “boring” and “lacklustre.”
The woman at the centre of the storm, Britney Spears, is said to be deeply upset by the comments according to her tour promoter Paul Dainty. He said the singer is distressed by the situation because “she’s a human being” adding that the reports of an audience walkabout are untrue and an example of “inaccurate reporting.”
Britney’s tour promoter also defended the singer’s lip-synching explaining that fans were made aware that parts of the show would be mimed due to a demanding dance routine. Mr Dainty said the show is about creating “an incredible spectacle” which is exactly what he thinks they’ve achieved.
However some fans weren’t impressed with the dance routines saying they didn’t make up for the lack of singing and subsequently demanded a refund. One fan said, “We were led to believe that the lip-synching was necessary as her dancing was so good, so rigorous, she couldn’t possibly sing. But her moves were sloppy and stiff, as well as out of time.”
In contrast to this, thousands of other music-lovers who attended the same concert posted congratulatory messages on Britney’s Twitter page and personal website praising her performance. The management team at the venue where the concert was held have said that they have not received any complaints regarding the show.
