Aerosmith and J. Geils Band together at Fenway. It feels so right.
Saturday morning at 10, tickets – priced from $55 to $175 – go on sale at livenation.com for the Aug. 14 Aerosmith/J. Geils Band double play at Fenway. On the final night of his Joe Perry Project tour, the Aerosmith guitarist called from his sound check at London’s 100 Club to talk about the new future of this old band.
On making amends with Steven Tyler: A month ago we had a sitdown and Steven said, “I’m ready to front the band again and let’s book some gigs.” He looked really strong and healthy and happy and ready to rock. I had one sentence to say to him and he had one sentence to say to me and that finished it. (Those sentences) are just between me and him. I knew the band was going to get back together, I just didn’t know if it was going to take a week or a month or a year. Steven and I have been together for 40 years and no bumps in the road are going to change that.
On playing at Fenway Park [map]: The first time I heard they were going to do a show there, I think it was Bruce Springsteen in 2003, I said “That should have been us.” But for some reason it wasn’t. I thought it would be something they would do once and then complain about the grass getting torn up and that would be it. But then there were more shows and I’ve just been hoping to play there since.
