Now playing at a bar mitzvah near you Jon Bonjovi

Todays New York post as a full story on the bar mitzvah party circuit, including how one girls parents hired Jon Bonjovi to sing at her 13th birthday

Sandler’s older daughter, Carly, had an even fancier party in 2008.

For Carly’s grand entrance, she descended from the ceiling of Cipriani Wall Street harnessed to a wire and dressed in a catsuit.

Then she was serenaded by Jon Bon Jovi for 45 minutes — to the point where she was rolling her eyes at her mother, wondering when the aging rock star would cede the stage back to her and her girlfriends.

“My husband did well that year and he was proud of himself, and he wanted to throw a huge party,” Liza explained.

The stunning blonde was married at the time to mega-wealthy hedge-funder Andrew Sandler. They’ve since split.

Liza wouldn’t disclose her budget for her older daughter’s birthday bash, but a source estimated that party ran into seven figures, easily.

But even those who don’t go to such lengths certainly don’t pinch pennies when it comes to their child’s coming-of-age ritual.

The children spend a year, if not more, studying Hebrew, learning prayers, and preparing to read from the Torah. And while the kid is bent over the books, his parents are bent over their checkbooks.

Then she was serenaded by Jon Bon Jovi for 45 minutes

Aerosmith & J. Geils band concert at Fenway Park tickets

steven tylerAerosmith and J. Geils Band together at Fenway. It feels so right.

Saturday morning at 10, tickets – priced from $55 to $175 – go on sale at livenation.com for the Aug. 14 Aerosmith/J. Geils Band double play at Fenway. On the final night of his Joe Perry Project tour, the Aerosmith guitarist called from his sound check at London’s 100 Club to talk about the new future of this old band.

On making amends with Steven Tyler: A month ago we had a sitdown and Steven said, “I’m ready to front the band again and let’s book some gigs.” He looked really strong and healthy and happy and ready to rock. I had one sentence to say to him and he had one sentence to say to me and that finished it. (Those sentences) are just between me and him. I knew the band was going to get back together, I just didn’t know if it was going to take a week or a month or a year. Steven and I have been together for 40 years and no bumps in the road are going to change that.

On playing at Fenway Park [map]: The first time I heard they were going to do a show there, I think it was Bruce Springsteen in 2003, I said “That should have been us.” But for some reason it wasn’t. I thought it would be something they would do once and then complain about the grass getting torn up and that would be it. But then there were more shows and I’ve just been hoping to play there since.

Bret Michaels recovering in facility for diabetics
(AP) – 1 hour ago
NEW YORK — Bret Michaels is recovering from his emergency appendectomy at a private care facility for diabetics.
A statement posted on the 47-year-old rocker’s Web site says Monday’s surgery went well. It says doctors are optimistic that Michaels, the former frontman for ’80s hair band Poison, will make a full recovery.
The statement says “the fact that he was exhausted due to his rigorous schedule prior to the surgery and coupled with the fact that he has diabetes, the surgery has taken its toll.”
The location of the facility specializing in the rehabilitation of diabetic patients wasn’t disclosed.
Michaels had been scheduled to perform in San Antonio on Sunday night. He had been suffering severe stomach pains all day and was urged to seek medical treatment.

s rumored in recent months, Roger Waters is taking Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” on the road this fall for a 36-date North American tour starting Sept. 15 in Toronto and wrapping Dec. 13 in Anaheim.

Prior to this, the 1979 concept album has only been performed 31 times — by PInk Floyd in 1980-81 with limited engagements in Los Angeles, London, Uniondale, N.Y. and Dortmund, West Germany, and an all-star presentation by Waters in July of 1990 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Waters, who played “The Dark Side of the Moon” in its entirety during 2007-08, will reportedly take “The Wall” to Europe in 2011, but no dates have yet been announced.

The show will be a state-of-the art affair, featuring a 240-foot-wide and 35-foot-tall wall constructed and subsequently torn down during the concerts. Other props and special effects are expected to be part of the show as well.

Waters is re-launching his official web site at 2 p.m. today with ticket sale information.

Released in November of 1979, “The Wall” — which focuses on a disaffected young musician facing an existential personal crisis that reflected Waters’ state of mind at the time — spent 15 weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart and has been certified 23-times platinum and won a Grammy Award for Best Engineered Recording — Non-Classical.

The North American leg of Waters’ tour includes:

When producers announced last year that Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth were going to star in a new stage adaptation of “The Addams Family,” theater audiences applauded the dream casting and producers geared themselves for a box-office bonanza.

What a difference a year makes.

On Thursday, “The Addams Family” finally limped onto Broadway following a tryout run in Chicago that was plagued with rumors of cast misery, rewrites and other forms of backstage drama. Jerry Zaks was reportedly called in to salvage the production, which was initially staged by experimental theater artists Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch.

Based on the Charles Addams cartoons that ran in The New Yorker (and not the TV series or the two feature films), the musical stars Lane and Neuwirth as Gomes and Morticia, the heads of the macabre Addams household. Rounding out the cast are Jackie Hoffman as Grandma, Zachary James as Lurch and Kevin Chamberlin as Uncle Fester.

Despite negative word of mouth, “The Addams Family” appears to be an audience hit so far, with robust ticket sales reported for preview performances at Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theater.

The critics, however, are another matter entirely.
